Beware of a growing greediness, the covetousness is one of the most insidious of sins. It is like the silting up of a river. As the stream comes down from the uplands it brings with it sand and earth, and stones, and it deposits these at its mouth, until by degrees, unless the conservators watch it carefully, it will block itself up, and it will be difficult to find a channel for ships of great burden. Thus too are souls silted up by that which they themselves accumulate.
